Wisteria Place Newsletter December 2021

Posted on December 6th, 2021

Who's ready for Christmas? It's time to start thinking about the festive season ahead and Wisteria Place has become a beacon of Christmas spirit!

Residents have made wine bottle luminaries to help light up our rainy nights. With the support of Keiko from the temple next door, our residents made the lovely ornaments that we used to decorate our Christmas trees.

We are looking forward to celebrating the holiday season with all of our residents! We have many activities planned for December. Join us for fun, community, and festivities. If you would like to know more about all the events that are planned, contact the concierge.

Merry Christmas!

A Time to Remember
handmade Red poppies made as an activity for seniors

After Halloween, we immediately got busy making poppies for Remembrance Day. The residents knitted poppies and also made some out of felt. They looked wonderful at our ceremony on November 11th. Rev Grant Ikuta from the Steveston Buddhist Temple led the service for our residents and guests.

We are honoured to have Terry Thoburn (pictured above) as part of our community. He is a veteran and has received many medals for his service, including, the Canadian Peace Keeping medal, Special Service medal for serving with Nato in Europe, and the Canadian Forces medal for 12 years in RCAF.

Entertainment

This past month, we were gifted with a performance by the West Point Grey Academy Orchestra. They entertained us with their rendition of some classical favourites.

We have also been treated with other musical guests, like Greg Alcock—who entertained us with his ragtime piano and popular favourites—and the Sax of Us—who created sweet sounds that appealed to all the residents.
